If you have wanted or need to modify your personal name on Facebook for some time, the truth is that it is not characterized by being a very complicated process, although it is necessary to bear in mind that, once modified, it is not possible to change it again until after 60 days.
As in Instagram, when we create an account on Facebook one of the first details to fill in that the social network asks us is to add our real name, together with the choice of a username (which must be free, although this time it does not have to match the personal name).
And, as with the username, it is possible to change our personal name whenever we need it, although with certain restrictions. In fact, one of the main limitations has to do with the use of a real name
In this sense, it is true, the same is not the case with Twitter, where it is perfectly possible to use a false name and we do not have to run the risk of the aforementioned social network closing or banning our account.
However, when our current name on Facebook no longer truly fits who we are at the moment, or we simply want to make some basic change, the truth is that the process to change our personal name is surprisingly simple.
Knowing the limitations
Before changing our name on Facebook, it is advisable to understand what are the conditions, rules and restrictions established by the social network in this regard. And the network is clear in this regard, so that the name cannot include:
Titles, such as professional or religious.
Numbers, symbols, capital letters, or repeating characters or punctuation marks.
Characters from different languages.
Phrases or words (instead of our real name).
Offensive or suggestive words.
Changing our personal name on Facebook
Since Facebook always prefers that we use our real name, it is necessary to first find out if the name we want to add complies with the rules established by the social network itself.
If so, changing your personal name is actually a very simple process. All you have to do is access the official website, log into our account, and click on the drop-down menu that we will find located at the top right of the screen.
We select Settings and Privacy, and then click on Settings. Right in this new section we will find the General Account Settings.
And, to change our name, we will only have to click on the Edit button, just above our previous name. We edit our name and then click on the Review change button.
Facebook will ask us to enter our password for security. If everything goes well, we can click on the Save changes option in order to complete the submission of the name change request.
Of course, do not forget that there are some limitations: once we have changed our name, it will not be possible to do it again for the next 60 days.
