Italy has been devastated by the terrible tragedy that has assailed the young cyclist Giuseppe Milone, who has died at the age of 17, victim of a run over. The young runner was run over last Wednesday without being able to survive the accident.

Guiseppe Milone was considered one of the great promises of cycling in his region and in Italy in general with successes of great importance. He was known throughout the transalpine country for having achieved the title of ‘King of Etna’, by passing a test of extreme hardness riding his bicycle.
This test consisted of ascending the six slopes of the Etna volcano, the mythical summit of the Giro d’Italia and which was climbed for the last time in the last edition won by INEOS cyclist Tao Geoghegan Hart. The data for this bestial challenge are 205 kilometers and route and more than 7,000 meters of accumulated unevenness. An effort of more than almost 13 hours for a young man of only 17 years old. This tragedy has become even more important due to Giuseppe Milone’s close relationship with one of the best Italian cyclists of recent decades, Vincenzo Nibali, multiple winner of the Giro d’Italia and winner of the three Grand Tours. Milone belonged to the team of young talents led by the star of the Trek-Segafredo team.
