Wiko Power U30 Review

In April, the French brand Wiko presented its new Android mobile model with significant autonomy, the Wiko Power U. Weeks later put them on sale, and we have been using the Wiko Power U30 for a week.

The tests we do on mobiles are usually for at least a week, although to know how the battery behaves, less time is usually enough since modern terminals must be charged daily.

In this case, the week has been fair to us since we have only charged the Wiko Power U30 twice at this time. Literally.

An entry mobile with enough memory and a large screen

At Wiko, they design many mobiles throughout the year, but the Power U focuses on autonomy.

Thus, the rest of the features are in the background. Despite that, they have chosen a sizeable diagonal screen, with 6.8 inches and adequate RAM and internal memory.

This allows those looking for a large screen not to be disappointed and those who do not want to run out of memory at the first change. In this sense, the Power U30 complies. The screen is not excellent, but it looks good even in the light, which allows us to use it without problems.

Would we have liked a lower minimum brightness? Totally, but it is not something that usually bothers the average user very much.

However, not everything is positive. The chosen processor is somewhat fair, and when performing demanding tasks, it complains. I have played Honkai Impact Third, but the frame rate per second, the speed, and the fluidity were not as good as I would have liked.

When opening apps, there is also an unavoidable delay, as well as when moving between applications. It reminded me of the Xiaomi Mi A1.

Of course, by integrating Android 11 in an almost pure version, we can say that we have a light system, although some Wiko applications are left over and others pre-installed. We can remove them, however, without much trouble.

The camera system is also essential. There are three rear ones, but only one is helpful since the sensors of 2 Mpx or less, as we always say, are plenty.

In general, it is a mobile that should be input, with a price of about 130 euros, more or less. But of course, there is one feature that stands out.

A near battery

The autonomy of mobile phones is something key for many users. For everyone, actually. Even those who work at home value having a mobile phone with a good battery when we go on a trip, spend the day away on the weekend, etc. This is where the Wiko Power U30 shines.

The battery in the Wiko Power U30

The battery of this terminal is 6000 mAh, the same as the ASUS gaming mobiles, the ROG Phone. However, unlike those, the cost of the system is much lower, which multiplies the hours away from the charger.

As you can see in the screenshots, the Wiko Power U30 allows us to spend several days without using the included 18W charger. The manufacturer speaks of four actual days of autonomy, and our tests certify it.

On one occasion, we have been more than three days without charging the mobile, with more than 9 hours of screen time in which we have played, used the GPS, taken photos, etc.

If the user is less intensive, we have come to exceed those four days. For example, in the second load test, I played less and took fewer photos, although I surfed more on Wifi and made more calls.

A very special mobile
Wiko Power U30

This is not a terminal that can be compared with other models simply for two reasons.

On the one hand, it is a terminal that has a somewhat high price for the features it offers. Wiko asks 179 euros for the only variant of the Power U30 that it has for sale, with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. For a little more, we see more powerful models.

On the other hand, the battery of this mobile is one of the largest in the industry, and the autonomy achieved is possibly the largest in the market.

That is why we want to briefly review what the Wiko Power U30 offers as an ordinary mobile and then focus on the star section.
