The website planvacunarse.ec began receiving registrations from older adults who need to be vaccinated against COVID-19, last Monday. But hours after the platform was enabled for registration, the site crashed from the number of requests.
Guayaquil University said it had warned the Ministry of Telecommunications about the high demand from users on the website.
Given this, the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (Espol) clarified that they did not develop the web platform of the Vaccinate Plan, but the home page.
The Buenos Aires academic entity indicated that the computer platform of the national vaccination plan is made up of three sections: the front page (home page), the registration system and the technology infrastructure (servers and security).
“The Espol was not in charge of the development of the web application, but collaborated in the realization of the graphic design and the functional navigation of the front page, for which the versatile and lightweight login page was created, so much so that it was it was done in five days, during which the site worked without problems ”, the university said in a statement.
He explained that after the registration system was integrated (which according to Espol is an application developed by a third party coordinated by the Ministry of Health) the site fell.
The Guayaquil university stressed that those responsible for the administration and total control of the platform are the ministries of Health and the Ministry of Telecommunications.
“Espol promptly warned that the website would have a lot of user demand, but the Ministry of Telecommunications said it was in full capacity,” added the institution.
The Polytechnic clarified that it did not receive any payment or benefit for its participation, and that it is concerned about “the state of disorganization, inefficiency and lack of transparency” in the vaccination process in the country.
