Nest Hub, the Google screen that measures your sleep

In addition to hearing yourself better and allowing you to see cooking recipes in video on the screen, it now has a sleep analysis system because if you prefer to use it in the bedroom

Google introduced its new smart home screen this morning, the Nest Hub. It is the second generation of a connected device that, as its main novelty, introduces an advanced radar that allows advanced sleep monitoring.

Nest Hub reached stores in the United States and other countries on March 31, but in Spain it will go on sale from May 4 at a recommended price of 99 euros. It will be sold in two colors, black and white, and will be available in the Google store and in other stores that sell technology, from MediaMarkt to FNAC. Amazon is not listed at this time.

Google’s new Nest Hub has features like a speaker that uses the same audio technology as Nest Audio and has 50 percent more bass than the original model.

Google’s smart screen allows you to listen to music from platforms such as YouTube Music and Spotify or watch series and movies with Netflix or Disney +. With the Quick Gestures function you can pause or play content at any time simply by bringing your hand to the screen, without touching it.

However, the most notable novelty of the second-generation Nest Hub is the sleep sensor, a feature that uses the Soli low-energy radar, introduced in the Pixel 5 phones.

Nest Hub analyzes how the person closest to the screen sleeps, based on their movement and breathing, without the need for a camera or other device. ‘Sleep Sensing’ can also detect sleep disturbances, such as coughing and snoring, or changes in light and temperature in the room with the built-in microphones and ambient light and temperature sensors.

Each morning Nest Hub will display a personalized sleep summary on your screen, including suggestions for improving your sleep. The sleep sensor function can also connect to the Google Fit app on Android and iOS devices on the phone.

This feature can be disabled if the user wishes, and Google ensures that it does not recognize people’s faces and that all data is processed from the device itself to maintain privacy.

Additionally, Google’s smart display is made from recycled materials, and the plastic components contain 54 percent post-consumer recycled plastics.

Second-generation Nest Hub will go on sale in Spain on May 4 for a recommended price of 99.99 euros and two colors: Chalk and Carbon.
